A four-star resort hotel that has been in the same family for over sixty years and standing on this mountain for more than a century. It sits at Campo Carlo Magno, a little above the town, which is the quiet end of the valley and — conveniently — exactly where the beginner slopes are.
Ski-in, ski-out. The Grostè cable car is 200 metres from the door and the Pradalago and Cinque Laghi gondolas are a short walk. A free shuttle runs into Madonna di Campiglio through the day.
The wellness centre runs to 1,100 square metres: swimming pools indoor and out, three kinds of sauna, a salt cave, a Kneipp path, a solarium, private spa suites and a full treatment menu. There are three restaurants, from the fireplace-and-timber Ristorante Baita to the family buffet, and the cellar is worth the attention it gets.
For anyone bringing children there is a supervised kids’ club running from mid-morning to early evening, a playroom, and a separate pool with a water slide. Ski hire and ski instructors are booked in the hotel itself, which removes most of the friction from a family week.

Ski area Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta
Madonna di Campiglio is the largest ski area in Trentino and has been drawing skiers for over a century. The local area runs to roughly 155km of connected pistes between 1,550m and 2,580m, linked to Pinzolo and Folgarida–Marilleva, with the full Skirama Dolomiti pass opening up more than 380km across the region.
If you have never skied. The nursery slopes at Campo Carlo Magno are wide, gentle and genuinely among the best beginner terrain in the Alps — and they are directly outside the hotel. You will not spend your first morning being bussed somewhere. From there, the easy runs at Pradalago and Grostè are the natural next step, and most people are riding proper pistes by the end of the week.
If you already ski. Long tree-lined descents, the Spinale run with its 70% pitch, the Ursus Snowpark on Grostè at 2,500m, and 22km of cross-country trails through the woods at Campo Carlo Magno. In March the higher, shadier Grostè sector generally holds the best snow.
A note on March. Early to mid-March is usually the strongest part of the season here, with the deepest base and long daylight. Campiglio sits on the sunny side of the Alps, so mornings are firm and fast and the lower slopes soften in the afternoon — which is one reason we ski in the morning and teach later in the day
